I think most banks are very happy to get owned real estate off their books, really... but the bank owned properties that are moving quickly seem to be primarily those in the $200,000 and below range. It could be that the houses behind you just have not dropped their prices enough to trigger a sale... or perhaps buyers are scared away by the squatters... I will email you off this list with an idea.

Doug, Great article. I keep hearing there are great deals to be had. I live in a fairly good neighborhood in the Laurel District of Oakland. There are 2 houses behind mine that I know are bank owned and have been sitting empty for over a year. Are some banks just not wanting to make deals? These houses have had squatters in them in the past and I am afraid that the longer they sit empty the better chane we will have of having squatters again. Unfortunately the squatters were not the ones you reported in your most recent post.

Very cool. Here's a little Craigslist tip - you can go to http://www.CraigZoom.com , which will allow you to search ALL the classifieds in Craiglist by keyword, instead of searching city by city. Just type in 'foreclosure' and you'll see a ton of things pop up.
